Latest delay could impact club season

THE latest delay to the resumption of Gaelic Games activities could have important ramifications for the format of the club season in particular, but Tyrone GAA PRO Eugene McConnell says that the health and safety of members is paramount.

The Tyrone CCC had recently completed a consultation with clubs with a view to firming up the structures of this year’s league and championships, but that has been put on hold for now as a result of last week’s revelations that there’ll be no return to action before Easter at the very earliest.

McConnell said, “Our proposals had gone out to clubs and they got back to us towards the end of January and first week of February.

“ Then we were waiting to see the outcome of the latest update from the government.

“Unfortunately, at this juncture, it hasn’t worked out. We were hoping that things would improve and that we’d have some form of competitive action to look forward to as that’s what everyone wants.”
